Concept Sketching
Clip CAD
Model generated using Solidworks. I initially modeled the cup using measurements I took with digital calipers. I then used this model to create closely mating clip geometry.
Assembly CAD
This shows the intended mating of the Cup Carabiner onto the cup.
DXF for Laser Cutting
This file is generated directly from the CAD model and input into the laser cutter.
Laser Cut Blanks
The flat patterns were then cut from 3mm acrylic.
Miniature Heat Gun
This is my handheld torch that I used to get more selective heating of the bend area. This required patience and gloves.
Failed Bending Attempt
This was my first attempt at selective heating and bending. I did not heat the very end enough and I pushed too hard. This resulted in a fracture at the thinnest point of the bend.
Success!
Here is the fully bent final product! It clips very well onto my bag for easy carry.
Clipped to Cup
On the bag and ready for travel!

So Rugged
